Dhaka: The results of the first year admission test of Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) in the academic year 2021-22 have been published.

The list of passers was published on the university’s website on Thursday (June 30) night.

Asir Anjum Khan, a student of Notre Dame College in the capital, won the first place. Asir finished sixth in the medical admission test and eighth in the admission test of the Islamic University of Technology.

Abir Ahmed Hasnain of Rajshahi College (Meghna Branch) secured the second place. Rezwan Rahi Rad, a student of Pabna Edward College, bagged the third place. Earlier, Rezwan also placed 33rd in the admission test of the Islamic University of Technology.

Last Saturday (June 18), BUET’s main admission test was held in two phases, morning and afternoon. Modules for Engineering Departments and Urban and Regional Planning Departments are held at 10-12 am and Modules-B for Engineering Departments, Urban and Regional Planning Departments and Architecture Departments are held in two shifts from 2-3:30 pm. Module-A had an attendance rate of 99.75 percent in the morning and Module-B had an attendance rate of about 91.89 percent in the afternoon.

Due to the global epidemic related to Covid-19, the admission test of Bangladesh University of Engineering was conducted in two stages through pre-selection and main admission test in compliance with the hygiene rules. Out of the students who applied, 18,034 students got the opportunity to participate in the pre-selection examination. A total of 6,006 students were selected to participate in the main admission test in two shifts (Module-A and Module-B) from 1st to 3000th of each shift, depending on the merit of the pre-selection test results. Of these, 4,632 are male students and 1,458 are female students.

The main admission test is held in written form in two shifts. The first shift test is from 10 am to 12 noon. In this shift, written tests on Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are conducted for groups ‘A’ and ‘B’ in the module. And in the second shift from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. In this shift, Module-B tests for free hand drawing and visual and spatial intelligence for group ‘B’.

Students will be admitted in undergraduate classes in 12 departments under the faculties of Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Architecture and Planning. In this year’s admission test, the total number of candidates is 16,034 out of a total of 1,269 seats including 3 reserved seats for Engineering Departments and 3 reserved seats for Urban and Regional Planning Departments and 1 reserved seat for Architecture Department for the candidates belonging to minority castes in Chittagong Hill Tracts and other areas.
