Shariatpur: BRTC has launched bus service on Shariatpur-Dhaka route as Padma Bridge has been launched. However, on Sunday (June 26) morning, the Shariatpur District Road Transport Owners Group stopped eight BRTC buses carrying passengers from Dhaka’s Fulbaria BRTC bus stand across the bridge in a festive atmosphere before reaching the Premtala and bus terminal areas of Shariatpur.
At this time, they also forced the passengers to get down.
A source in the Shariatpur District Road Transport Owners Group claimed that the BRTC bus service had been suspended due to non-coordination with them. Bus Owners Group has launched a bus service called Shariatpur Super Service. They are renting a non-AC bus from Shariatpur to Dhaka for Tk 250. And BRTC AC bus took 300 rupees per person.
The passengers of the bus demanded that the transport syndicate should be free in Shariatpur. BRTC buses run in all upazilas of Shariatpur.
BRTC bus operator Bablu Mridha of Gosairhat said, “BRTC has given us permission.” The bus owners did not speak to the association. After coming to Shariatpur, the people of the bus owners’ association stopped our bus and told the passengers to get off.
However, none of the Shariatpur District Road Transport Owners Group agreed to talk about it.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Palang Police Station Akhter Hossain said a decision on the matter would be taken at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday (June 26) at 10am.
