The group alleged that the attack was carried out during a public meeting organized by the Dhaka District BNP at Zinjira in South Keraniganj of the capital. At least 30 leaders and activists of the party including Dhaka District BNP General Secretary Nipun Roy Chowdhury were injured.
Nipun Roy has been admitted to a private hospital in Dhaka. Dakshin Keraniganj Thana BNP General Secretary Mojadded Ali Babu gave this information.
As part of the ongoing anti-government movement program, BNP is holding public gatherings in 18 districts and metropolitan areas of 9 divisions of the country, including Dhaka Metropolitan South. As part of the central program, the party’s rally at Zinjira started around 10 am on the initiative of Dhaka district BNP.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was the chief guest in this gathering. Dhaka District BNP President Khandaker Abu Ashfaq presided over it.
Mojadded Ali Babu alleged that the ruling Awami League party leaders started throwing bricks during the rally. He said that Nipun Roy Chowdhury and several BNP leaders and activists were injured by the brick.
After the attack, the BNP rally started again amid the strong position of the police. BNP rally ended with Ruhul Kabir Rizvi’s speech. Law and order forces are on high alert in the area.
Mojadded Ali Babu said that 30 people including Nipun Ray were seriously injured in the attack of Awami League on the BNP rally in Keraniganj. The rally was held despite the barricade attack.
