A leader of the Chhatra Dal was shot dead in Narsingdi headquarters in a clash between two sides. Another person was shot.

District Chhatra Dal leaders and activists said that on January 26, Central Chhatra Dal approved the five-member (partial) district committee by appointing Siddiqur Rahman Nahid as president, Mainuddin Bhuiya as senior vice president and Mehedi Hasan as general secretary.

Narsingdi District Chhatra Dal’s vice-president Main Uddin Bhuia, who was recently expelled from the committee, said that since the announcement of the committee, the leaders and workers of a section of the organization who did not get the position had been protesting to cancel the declared committee.

As a result of this, the Chinishpur residence of BNP Central Joint Secretary General and Narsingdi District Convenor Khairul Kabir Khokon has been attacked several times in the dispute between the two parties.

According to the police, on Thursday, a group of leaders and workers who did not get posts in the district committee were protesting with motorcycles near the BNP office in Chinishpur. At this time, the leaders and workers of another party attacked them. Sadek and Ashraful were shot in the head and back.

The injured were rescued first to Narsingdi District Hospital and later, if the condition worsened, they were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Bachchu Mia told that two people who were shot in a clash between two groups in Narsingdi were brought to Dhaka Medical College in critical condition. After the examination, Sadekur was declared dead by the doctor on duty at 7:30 in the evening.

Additional Superintendent of Police Fazal-e-Khuda said, “The police visited the spot. At the hospital, one person was found with a gunshot wound. I got to know that the other person has been sent to Dhaka.”

The police officer said that the cause of this incident is being investigated.
