A milad and doa mahfil was organized on the occasion of the victory of the newly elected committee of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association at 5 pm on April 23 at the garden of BFDC. Various media persons came there to receive the news on the invitation of Shilpi Samiti.
Shiba Shanu, a member of Shili Samiti, hit Daily Khabar Kaghe journalist Mithun Al Mamun while interviewing actress Mayuri and her daughter.
When Mithun Al Mamun screamed to save himself, everyone started running from all sides. Due to this incident, some selected members of the executive committee and ordinary members attacked the journalists in an unprovoked situation. About 20 journalists were injured.
The angry journalists gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the artists’ association with 5 points demanding a fair solution to the incident and punishment of the guilty artistes.
In order to control the situation on the night of April 23, the producer Mr. Arshad Adnan was appointed as the chief advisor on behalf of the journalists, including Limon Ahmed, Rahat Saiful, Ahmed Taukir, Bulbul Ahmed Joy, Masum Joy and Misha Saudagar, DA Tayeb, Nanashah, Rubel, Ratna on behalf of the artists association. An inquiry committee comprising members was constituted.
Later, on April 24 at 9 pm, the investigation committee held a discussion in the study room of the Film Directors Association located at FDC. Bangladesh Film Journalists Association (Bachsas) President Raju Alim, General Secretary Rimon Mahfuz, former General Secretary Kamruzzaman Babu, Secretary General of Journalists and Directors Association Shaheen Sumon, producer leader Mohammad Iqbal were also present there. The following decision was made to solve and resolve the incident through discussion.
1/ On the day of the incident, the Film Artists Association issued a press release expressing grief over the incident.
2/ Shivashanu, Sushant, Zaman will be temporarily expelled from Shilpi Samiti for one month. They will be cautioned against engaging in any disorderly conduct in the future by issuing a show cause notice.
3/ Artists Association will pay the medical expenses of the injured journalists as soon as possible.
4/ The artists association will pay compensation for the loss of cameras, mobiles and other equipment to the journalists who were attacked by April 30.
5/ It was decided to expel Joy Chowdhury, the organizing secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association for 1 month from the artists association. Also a show cause notice will be issued and if he is involved in such incidents in future, his membership will be permanently suspended from the association. On camera, she expressed her grief. But due to the circumstances it did not end successfully.
On April 26 (Friday), the formal resolution of the issues was completed following the re-discussion of the 11-member inquiry committee.
Meanwhile, entertainment journalists boycotted Joy Chowdhury for not formally apologizing. That declaration will stand. Apart from this, entertainment journalists will celebrate film black day on April 23 every year to protest against this reprehensible incident
