Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has commented that India is now too ‘polarised’ when it comes to religion.

The actress feels that people in India are more religiously ‘identified’ than in the past.

Vidya Balan said this in a recent interview given to the media by Times of India.

He said, “Earlier, such a scene could not be seen in the country, but now the situation has changed a lot. Earlier, no one bothered about religious identity as a countryman. But now I don’t know why the matter has become like this. Not only in politics, but also in social media.

“Social media has a big hand behind exacerbating the issue of polarization. They made the situation worse. People are more alone now!”

Asked why he doesn’t donate money to build a religious institution, Vidya Balan said, “If someone comes to me asking for donations to build a religious institution, I never give. I say, if you want to build a hospital, school or toilet, then I will gladly give money. But I will not give financial support to any religious institution.”

When asked what is Vidya Balan’s political philosophy, she said she is ‘scared’ of politics.

“What if politics bans me?” It didn’t exactly happen to me, but stars talk about politics a little better now. Because who, when is the mind! Especially during the release of a movie, because there are 200 people working behind the scenes of that movie. So I say, keep me out of politics. Better to shut up and get on with the job.”
