question: You were happy to get the critics’ certificate after the release of the first film?

Title: The four year wait is over. It doesn’t take that much time to give birth. And until the film was released, none of us could evaluate the film. The experience of working with actors like Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Sandhil Ramamurthy, Ileana D’Cruz in the first film was very good. They never let me know that I was a newbie.

question: ‘Do our do par’-When did it start? was done?

Title: Earlier representatives of the film’s producer ‘Ellipsis Entertainment’ met Vidya (Balan) with an initial idea for ‘Do Aur Do Paar’. During the first meeting, Vidya gives her consent. But he specifically said that we should bring the ‘final script’ in the next meeting. The producer of the film contacted me and offered to make the film. After that I sit with my ‘writing team’ and write a mature script and play it to Vidya.

question: There were doubts about Pratik Gandhi’s characterization?

Title: Pratik was eager to work with Vidya from the very first day. Prateek has never done a love-comedy film before. So that enthusiasm was very natural. After that we all met one day at Vidya’s house. The main objective was to see Prateek and Vidya in the same frame, how do they fit together. A lot of thought was also put behind the characterization of Sandhil and Ileana. We took a year and a half just for the characterization of the film.

question: Despite being a Bengali, we saw more Tamil Brahmin customs in the film. Tell the truth without hiding it, Do you lack Bengali language??

Title: In fact, storytelling seemed more important than language or provincial importance. Vidya’s family details were more essential in the film. At first we thought of making Pratik’s character Punjabi. Because there are many social and taste differences between Southerners and Punjabis, but Punjabis do not follow symbols in character.

question: What is the contribution of Guthakurta family in your life??

Title: Brought up in a single family, Ruma Guhathakurta is my elder sister, Bhishma Guhathakurta is my uncle. Baba Sreerup Guthakurta shot the advertisement. I always got inspiration from my parents and family.

question: After the first film, everyone is curious about what’s next. What are your plans for this??

Title: The process and experience of making images for commercials and images for the big screen are very different. There’s a huge difference between making a 30-second-one-minute ad and a two-hour-and-20-minute film. It was a huge leap for me. There will be no rush while choosing the next picture. Characteristic differences and distinctions are my favorite subjects. Satyajit Ray, Sam Mendes, Alexander Penn are some of my favorite directors. Most of the time in Hindi films now we see mayhem or autobiographical themes. I don’t know why there aren’t more pure rom-com films being made.

question: Do not make Bengali films?

Title: My mother tongue is Bengali and I think in Bengali, I will definitely make it in the near future.
