question: ‘field’ In the picture When he got a call for the role of legendary footballer PK Banerjee, What was the first impression??

Consciousness: Football is my first love. For twenty long years I have been a devoted supporter of Manchester United. I didn’t know much about the golden era of Indian football before doing ‘Maidan’. So when I got the role of PK Banerjee, I knew I couldn’t miss it. 7000 actors auditioned for this role, it is a big credit to me that I got past them.

question: As an actor How much did the success of ‘Maidan’ inspire you?

Consciousness: I first heard about Maidan in 2018. From the first day I felt only one thing, my dream is going to succeed. I am very happy to see ‘Maidan’ on the big screen after a long wait of six years. A friend of mine told me that PK Banerjee’s daughter was very happy to see me in Maidan. He said that he had never seen his father play in the field, but seeing ‘Maidan’ fulfilled his wish. Who will give me a bigger certificate? I will go to Kolkata and thank him personally.

question: What was the most difficult aspect of PK Banerjee’s role??

Consciousness: It was the most difficult process to portray myself on screen as an actor through proper training. Having played soccer every day for three years straight, it took time to get the hang of it. None of us who acted in the film are professional footballers! I used to wake up at four in the morning every day for football training. After getting up, it took some time to get myself together. I got covid during the shoot. After the negative report came, I started shooting again after five days. I used to shoot through my teeth, I had less stamina in the field, but I was excited to see everyone else. One person’s contribution to ‘Maidan’ is huge, he is Dinesh Nair. He choreographed all the football matches in the film.

question: ‘field’ After the film, the relationship between Calcutta and Bengalis became more intense?

Consciousness: First I the city Calcutta I used to address, but now Calcutta say Calcutta is now a passion for me.
