Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan
Like the whole of India, Bollywood stars were also hoping for India’s victory in the final of the Cricket World Cup. Australia won the title of the world’s best by pouring water on that hope. Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have given motivation to the Indian cricket team even in this atmosphere of despair.
Anandabazar said that many people bet not to watch the match due to superstition in the hope of India winning the match; Amitabh Bachchan’s name was also in that list.
After defeating New Zealand in the semi-final to reach the final, Big B announced on social media that India won the match without him watching the game. And so, under the post, a group of social media users requested Shahenshah not to watch the World Cup final.
“Last night’s result cannot in any way question the talent or competence of the Indian team,” wrote Amitabh on his X handle, praising the team on Monday after India’s defeat. I am very proud of Team India. I believe, good day will surely come.”
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh praised the Indian cricket team’s ‘excellent’ performance.
After the final, ‘Badsha’ wrote on his X handle, “We should all be proud of the way Team India has played throughout the tournament. At the end of the day cricket is a game, and in all sports there are wins and losses, good days as well as bad days.
“Unfortunately that bad day fell on the day of the final. But I would like to thank the Indian team for delivering such an outstanding tournament. The players of our team have encouraged and given joy to the countrymen for so long. We are all proud.”
In 2003 India and Australia met in the World Cup final led by Sourav Ganguly; The World Cup was also lost in India’s hands.
After two decades, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India again entered the final against Australia on Sunday. India was defeated by the opponent Australia again.
