Deepfake video scandal of popular southern cinema actress Rashmika Mandana has created an uproar across India. Meanwhile, the country’s government took strict action. This time the Delhi Police is standing by the actress. A case has been filed.
A First Information Report case was lodged on behalf of the Delhi Police at the Special Cell police station on Friday. The Indian media has published this news citing the Delhi Police.
A case under Sections 465 and 469 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Sections 66C and 66E of the IT Act, 2000 has been registered at the Delhi Police’s Special Cell police station in connection with Rashmika Mandana’s deepfake AI-generated video, Delhi Police said. An investigation has also been started in this incident.
Earlier, the Delhi Commission for Women called for quick action in this regard, after Rashmika’s deepfake video went viral on social media, a statement said that the Delhi Commission for Women has filed a suo moto case in connection with the viral deepfake video of Indian actress Rashmika Mandana.
The actress herself expressed her concern over the matter and said that someone had illegally morphed her image and used it in the video.
According to the commission, no arrest or detention has been reported so far in this case and they have demanded a copy of the case file by November 17.
The statement also said that the commission has learned that no arrests have been made in the incident so far. This is a very serious matter. A copy of the case filed in this regard along with information about the accused and details of the action to be taken may be given.
A video has recently gone viral on social media. It can be seen that Pushpa actress is getting in a lift wearing a black deep neck dress. Abhishek Kumar, a journalist and researcher, was the first to point out that the video was fake. He posted the original video on his X handle. He even spoke of taking legal action to deal with the situation.
Because the amount of deepfake in India is increasing. The original video is actually by British-Indian influencer Zara Patel. But with the help of deepfake technology, his face was manipulated and replaced with Rashmika’s face. Actress Katrina Kaif also faced a similar incident.
