Two teams from Bangladesh are participating in the World Robot Olympiad

Two teams from Bangladesh are participating in the world’s most prestigious robotics competition ‘World Robot Olympiad 2022’. The teams representing Bangladesh in the three-day 24th edition of the Olympiad, which began today in Dortmund, Germany, are ‘Team Lazy-Go’ and ‘Robniam Bangladesh’.
This is the first time that contestants from Bangladesh are participating in this competition. There are a total of four contestants, two from each of the two teams.
The members of Team ‘Team Lazy-Go’ are – Iqbal Samin Prithul from Department of Information and Communication Engineering, Bangladesh University of Professionals and Tawseef Samin from Department of Software Engineering, Islamic University of Technology. And in the team ‘Robiniam Bangladesh’ are Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur secondary examinee Israfil Shaheen Aranya and Manipur High School and College ninth grader Mir Muhammad Abidul Haque. Redwan Ferdous is the team leader of the teams and Maherul Azam Qureshi is the deputy team leader.
Before this, ‘World Robot Olympiad 2022′ Bangladesh’s national event’ was held at Ahsanullah Science and Technology University in the capital last month. A two-day international team selection camp was held with the winners at the national level. Based on the success and performance of this camp, the team representing Bangladesh in ‘World Robot Olympiad 2022’ is selected.
Munir Hasan, general secretary of Bangladesh Open Source Network, the organizer of the Bangladesh phase of the World Robot Olympiad, said, ‘We have become a member of the World Robot Olympiad in 2020. Bangladesh is the 25th member in Asia and 84th among global members of WRO. The service competition was not held. In 2021, Bangladesh participated in the online event for the first time. For the first time participating, Bangladesh has secured the tenth place. 200 teams from 66 countries around the world participated. In this year’s event, the boys of our country will compete with more than three hundred contestants from 73 countries of the world.
