In 6 cemeteries of DNCC, no grill-fence is ordered for common graves

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has been instructed not to install grill-bamboo fences and poles in the common graves of six cemeteries. A letter has already been sent to the assistant social welfare officer of the regional office and the morars of the cemeteries informing about this matter.

This information was revealed by DNCC sources on Friday (September 23). Recently, this information was revealed in a letter signed by DNCC Chief Social Welfare and Slum Development Officer Mohammad Mamun Ul Hasan.

It is said that the order not to place grills, bamboo fences and poles on the general burial graves of the cemeteries was given earlier, but it was seen on the ground that most of the graves have been given these. If fenced, bushes and weeds are created in the cemetery. This results in loss of beauty and disruption of cleanliness. Moreover, due to long fences, thickets are formed and there is danger of nesting of snakes and foxes. In this situation, grills, bamboo fences, poles built on graves which are not protected in cemeteries under DNCC have been asked to be removed as soon as possible. Also, after removing them, the authorities should be informed in writing. Apart from this, if a new grill, bamboo fence, poles are given to a grave after instructions, the senior moharr or moharrs of the cemetery will be responsible.

The six cemeteries are Uttara Sector 4 Cemetery, Uttara Sector 12 Cemetery, Uttara Sector 14 Cemetery, Banani Cemetery, Mirpur Martyrs Intellectuals Cemetery and Rayerbazar Martyrs Intellectuals Memorial-adjacent Cemetery.
