165 lakh liters of soybeans will be purchased for TCB
Dhaka, September 21, 2022 (BSS): The government will purchase 16.5 lakh liters of soybean oil from three domestic companies through the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) to supply subsidized edible oil to one crore families. It will cost 305 crore 25 lakh taka to buy this oil.
This approval was given in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement under the chairmanship of Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday. The meeting is held virtually. At the end of the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division. Abdul Barik presented the approved proposals to the journalists.
He said that the proposal to buy 5.5 million liters of soybean oil from Super Oil Refinery Limited through TCB under the Ministry of Commerce was approved. The cost of buying this oil has been estimated at Tk 101 crore 75 lakh.
Besides, the cabinet committee on government procurement has approved the proposal to purchase 55 lakh liters of soybean oil from City Edible Oil Limited at Tk 101 crore 75 lakh and 55 lakh liters of soybean oil from Meghna Edible Oil Refinery Ltd at Tk 101 crore 75 lakh.
Abdul Barik said that soybean oil will be purchased from three companies at the price of Tk 185 per liter. This oil will be taken in two liter bottles.
A total of 10 proposals were approved by the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement today. The cost for this has been fixed at 1 thousand 726 crore 8 lakh 41 thousand 923 taka.
Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) under the Ministry of Agriculture approved the proposal to import 30 thousand tons of TSP fertilizer from Morocco OCP, SA for 221 crore 53 lakh 50 thousand 357 taka.
Besides, Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Ministry of Industry has approved the purchase of 30 thousand metric tons of bagged prind urea fertilizer from Muntajat in Qatar at the price of Tk 206 crore 59 lakh 11 thousand 750. In another proposal, the import of 30 thousand metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Qatar’s Muntajat in the 5th lot of 209 crores 10 lakhs 90 thousand 495 takas was approved.
Meanwhile, two proposals were approved in a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal. One of these ‘River Dredging and Left Bank Conservation Works from Majhirchar under Dohar Upazila of Dhaka District to Moksedpur via Narishabazar’ has been given principled approval for procurement through direct procurement method.
Apart from this, the policy approval of the purchase of ‘Ground Level Elevation, Wave Protection and Shore Defense Work of Mithamin Army Establishment under Mithamin Upazila of Kishoreganj District’ was given through direct procurement method.
