Bogra: There was a ruckus and a fight between Jubo League leaders and activists with Member of Parliament (MP) Rezaul Karim Bablu of Bogra-7 (Shajahanpur-Gabatli) Constituency. At that time, the member of parliament threatened Jubo League activists with a pistol.
On Wednesday (September 21) morning, the incident happened outside during the law and order committee meeting in the hall on the second floor of the Upazila Parishad.
It is known that there was a meeting of the law and order committee of the Upazila Parishad on Wednesday. The meeting started in the hall adjacent to the office of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) around 10:30 am. About 15 minutes after the start of the meeting, when commotion started outside, upazila chairman and acting president of Upazila Awami League Sohrab Hossain Channu came out and saw MP Bablu and his personal assistant fighting with Jubo League leaders and activists. MP Bablu’s brother-in-law and his (personal assistant) PS Reza took money from the Jubo League leaders for giving various projects, but for a long time they did not give the project and demanded the money, causing a ruckus between the two parties. At one point, both sides started talking and fighting and pushing. At that time, the MP’s people hit the upazila Jubo League leader Badsha with a stick. While trying to prevent it, one of the Sramik League named Shahidul was hit on the head. In the attack, the MP’s assistant was also hit on the head with a stick.
In this regard, MP Bablu said, I am an advisor to the upazila law and order committee as a member of parliament. He went to Upazila Parishad to attend the law and order committee meeting on Wednesday. But the meeting started before he arrived. Then he was waiting in front of his office door to talk to UNO Asif Ahmed. At that time, his personal assistant Reza and a few people including the driver were with him. At around 10 am, 4/5 leaders of Jubo League along with Acting General Secretary of Upazila Jubo League Badsha Alamgir suddenly came in front of the door of UNO and attacked him.
He said that Jubo League leader Badshah Alamgir hit his PS on the head with a rod when the people who were with him tried to save me. His head exploded. At one point, upazila chairman Sohrab Hossain Channu came and pushed him. On receiving the information, the police rescued us and took us to the police station and sent the injured Salim Reza to Shajimek Hospital. At one stage of the incident, he also said that he took out a licensed pistol for self-defense.
Shajahanpur Upazila Parishad Chairman and Upazila Awami League Acting President Sohrab Hossain Channu said, ‘MP has nothing to do with me. There was a ruckus about the problem of MP PS with the general secretary of Upazila Jubo League. ‘
He said MP Bablu’s brother-in-law and his (personal assistant) PS Reza took money from Jubo League leaders by promising to give various projects. He was delaying the project for a long time. On Wednesday morning, the MP came to the Upazila Parishad to attend the Upazila Law and Order Committee meeting. At that time, the Jubo League leaders found his Personal Assistant (PS) Reza and asked for the money back. When a ruckus started over this I moved forward to stop it. At that time, MP Bablu took out his personal pistol and aimed to kill him. On receiving the news, the police and councilors quickly came and brought the situation under control.
Acting General Secretary of Shajahanpur Upazila Jubo League, Badsha Alamgir said that for the implementation of food in exchange for work (Kabikha) project, MP Bablu has given his PS. Took money from me four years ago through razor. But since then Bablu did not come to the area and did not give the project.
He said, after visiting the Upazila Parishad on Wednesday morning, I want to know the reason for not giving the project. Infuriated by this, the MP started abusing me in unspeakable language. At one point, when Upazila Chairman Sohrab Hossain Channu came there, the MP took out the revolver in his waist and threatened to shoot. When the Jubo League leaders and activists who were with him got excited, he hid the pistol.
Shajahanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun said that no one has filed any complaint in this incident yet. Complaints will be investigated and action will be taken.
