Abdul Mannan Akande, the chairman candidate for the upcoming Zilla Parishad elections, has been denied bail and sent to jail in a case filed on charges of beating, vandalism and looting. Bogra Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Ahmed Shahriar Tariq denied her bail on Wednesday (September 21) morning. Bogra Court Police Inspector Subrata Banerjee confirmed this information. Mannan Akanda is contesting against Awami League nominated candidate in Zilla Parishad elections.
On September 14, the illegal construction of Bir Muktijoddha Hossain Ali Market built on the site of Bogra Railway was demolished. Abdul Mannan Akand was the contractor for the construction of that structure. During the eviction operation, Bogra Railway booking assistant Raihan Kabir and Mahmudunnabi Russell, who complained about the illegal installation, were attacked. Hyder Ali, the director of the market committee and father of the injured Raihan Kabir, filed a case at the Sadar police station as the plaintiff. The main accused in that case was Abdul Mannan Akand.
On Wednesday (September 21) morning, he appeared in court and applied for bail in that case. After the hearing, the court judge denied him bail and sent him to jail. Bogra Court Police Inspector Subrata Banerjee said that he was sent to Bogra Jail immediately after the order.
