Two youths riding a motorcycle were killed in a bus crash in Bakerganj upazila of the district. The incident took place at Nimtala bus stand area of ​​Charadi Union of the upazila around 7:30 am on Wednesday.

The deceased are Nazmul Mallik (20) son of Nanna Mallick of Santoshdi village of Charadi Union and Rabbi Gazi (21) son of Jasim Gazi of the same village.

Nazmul Barisal is a first year honors student of Govt Brajmohan (BM) College. He was working as a salesman of Bengal Biscuits.

Md. Lokman Hossain Mridha, member of Ward No. 7 of Charadi Union, said that a motorcycle collided head-on with a bus of Sagar Paribahan going to Goma Ferry Ghat at Nimtala bus stand area.

At that time, the seriously injured motorcycle rider Nazmul Mallik and Rabbi Gazi were rescued and taken to Barisal Sher-i Bangla Medical College (Shebachim) Hospital where the doctors on duty declared them dead.

Bakerganj Police Station Deputy Inspector (SI) Aminul Islam said that since the incident, bus service has been stopped from Charkaua Kheyaghat bus stand in Barisal Sadar Upazila to DC Road in Bakerganj. The bus driver fled after the accident but the police impounded the bus.
