2 employees accused of harassing doctors and patients at Rangpur Medical College Hospital have been dismissed. Hospital director Dr. Shariful Hasan confirmed this.
Two contractual employees, Masud and Jharna Begum, were dismissed on Tuesday (September 20) around 3 pm. A 3-member committee has been formed to find out whether anyone is behind the harassment.
Hospital director Dr. Shariful Hasan said, ‘They have been dismissed based on the complaint of the harassed doctor. Associate Professor of Cardiology Dr. A 3-member inquiry committee has been formed headed by Haripad Sarkar. The other two members of the committee are the assistant director of the hospital. Mustafa Zaman Chowdhury and Emergency Medical Officer Dr. Abul Hasan. The committee has been asked to submit the inquiry report within 5 working days.
Incidentally, doctor A. B. M. Rashedul Amir of the hospital was subjected to Bakshish harassment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Harassment of not only doctors but patients and their relatives is a daily occurrence. From admission to the hospital to the death of the patient, the bereaved relatives have to give ‘Bakshish’ utkoch. In Rangpur Medical Hospital, it has become difficult to get the services of sick people without Utkoch or Bakshish.
