Dhaka University (DU) Department of Mass Communication and Journalism has awarded ‘Professor Sitara Parveen Award’ to 11 meritorious students for achieving outstanding results in BSS (Honors) Examination 2020.

Awarded students are – Ishrak Sabbir Nirjhar, Irwin Ahmed Mitu, Ishrat Jahan Promi, Zobair Ahmed, Kaushik H Haider, Mir Saddam Hussain, Md. Mujahidul Islam, Abu Nomayer Saad, Tasnova Arefin, Jannatul Naeem Piyal and Tamara Yasmin Tama.

On Tuesday, Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Professor Mozaffar Ahmed Chowdhury of Akhtaruzzaman University was present as the chief guest in a function organized in the auditorium and presented this award to the meritorious students.

Chairman of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Professor Dr. Abul Mansoor Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Zia Rahman spoke as a special guest. Professor Dr. Ahaduzzaman Mohammad Ali gave vote of thanks. The program was conducted by Assistant Professor Marzia Rahman.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman paid deep respect to the memory of late Professor Sitara Parveen and said, ‘She was an honest, idealistic and dedicated teacher. Calling upon the students to adopt the ideals of Professor Sitara Parveen, the Vice-Chancellor said, students should develop into good people by combining academic success with human values.

It should be noted that the daughter of former president Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed and professor of mass communication and journalism department. Professor Ahaduzzaman Muhammad Ali’s wife. Sitara Parveen died on June 23, 2005 in a tragic road accident in the United States.
