Acting Foreign Secretary Khurshed Alam said that Bangladesh is testing its patience with Myanmar. He told this to reporters after the briefing of foreign diplomats in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon.
The government highlighted the border situation by briefing the member countries of ASEAN last Monday. Tuesday’s briefing was for ambassadors or diplomats from non-ASEAN countries.
While Russia and India sent their representatives to the briefing, there was no representative from China.
Acting Foreign Secretary Khurshed Alam said, “In addition to the European Union member countries, almost everyone including the United States, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Turkey, and Japan participated in the meeting. He also said that Bangladesh is testing patience by not giving in to Myanmar’s incitement and the ambassadors have assured to support Bangladesh’s initiative if Bangladesh goes to the United Nations on this issue.
He said, ‘Bangladesh has informed the ambassador so that Myanmar cannot take advantage of the continuous provocation. ‘
In the meeting, the envoys were informed that Bangladesh has not done any such thing, that the citizens of this country cannot live safely in their own land, cannot graze cows and calves, cannot stay at home.
The Acting Foreign Secretary said that the ambassadors of all countries have considered it unacceptable that Myanmar’s shells and mortar shells come to the border of this country regardless of the internal disturbances. They said that they will tell the location of Dhaka in their capital.
He said, ‘The situation at the border is the same. The shelling on the other side did not stop. The explanation given by Naypyidaw by calling the ambassador of Bangladesh is also not acceptable. ‘
