The journey of tea research farm started in Chittagong’s Bashankhali
Chittagong, September 9, 2022 (BSS): Official launch of tea research farm at Bashankhali, Chittagong has started. Bangladesh Tea Board Chairman Major General Md. Ashraful Islam inaugurated the office building of the tea research farm at 11:30 am on Friday.
According to the related sources, this regional research farm of Bangladesh Tea Research Institute has been established on the own land of the tea board adjacent to the Chandpur Belgaon tea garden in the upazila.
The Chairman of the Tea Board said in the speech of the chief guest in the inaugural function that the newly constructed research farm at Banshkhali will play an important role in the expansion of tea plantations in the Chittagong region and hill districts. In this research farm, clone trials of improved varieties and tea seedlings will be produced and distributed to gardens. Besides, provision of technical assistance, scientific advice and training will also be provided from the farm to the orchards.
Later, the Chairman of the Tea Board interacted with the managers, employees and tea workers of Chanpur-Belgaon tea plantations and inquired about the benefits and disadvantages of the workers. During this, he highlighted various initiatives taken by the government to improve the quality of life of the workers.
