The body of a Bangladeshi youth has been recovered across the border of Comilla’s Brahmanpara upazila. The doctor said that there are injury marks on his body.
Talking to the BGB and the locals, it is known that around 5:30 am on Thursday, the locals saw the young man named Tushar Khan (35) lying unconscious on the other side of Narayanpur border in Shasidal. He was found dead when he was rescued around 4pm.
According to local residents, the young man was injured and unconscious inside India for at least 10 hours after the BGB-BSF rushed to rescue him as his identity was not confirmed.
OC Appela Raju Naha of Brahmanpara Police Station said that the body of this young man was sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy on Friday morning.
Tushar Khan is the son of Muslim Khan of Baluvra village in Raninagar upazila of Naogaon. He came to visit his aunt Asma Begum’s house in Shasidal area of Brahmanpara upazila.
Aunt Asma said Tushar Khan was missing since Wednesday afternoon.
On Friday, OC Appella Raju Naha said, after the flag meeting, the BGB took over the body of the young man from the BSF on Thursday evening. Later in the night, the body was handed over to the police. Postmortem of the body was completed at Comilla Medical College Hospital on Friday. Later, the body was handed over to the family members.
He said that no written complaint has been received from the family of the deceased in this incident. If a complaint is received, the incident will be investigated and legal action will be taken.
According to BGB and locals, the local people saw the man lying in a state of confusion in the snow pit at the border area around 5:30 am on Thursday. After receiving the news, BGB and BSF members reached the spot. But as the identity of the youth was not immediately confirmed, no party rescued him. After the identity was confirmed, it was recovered around 4 pm that day. By then he was dead.
Brahmanpara Upazila Health Complex Medical Officer Kazi Tanveer Absal was present when the body of the young man was recovered.
He told the reporters that after receiving the news, he came to the spot at 4:15 pm on Thursday and did the preliminary examination and found the young man dead. The young man’s body showed injury marks at various places.
Narayanpur Dakshinpara Jame Mosque Imam Md. Ramzan Ali said that on Thursday morning, a person found this young man lying naked in the border area on his way home after Fajr prayer from the mosque. Later he came to the mosque and covered him with a lungi and asked the locals to report the matter to the BGB.
Locals said that they saw the young man lying alive inside India about 10 feet from the Bangladesh-India border pole on Thursday morning. But the seriously injured young man could not speak. He was breathing. On receiving the news, BGB members came to the spot and held a flag meeting with the BSF as they were lying injured inside India.
