Bangladesh has participated in an international fair in Germany for the first time to highlight the export-oriented fishery resources to everyone.

303 companies from 29 countries of the world participated in the 3-day international fish fair organized by the city of Bremen.

6 leading frozen food exporters from Bangladesh participated in the fair organized by the Directorate of Fisheries in collaboration with Solidarity Network Asia and Bangladesh Embassy in Berlin.

The companies are – ACI Agrolink Limited, Deep Sea Fish Limited, MU Sea Food Limited, Crimson Rosella Sea Food Limited, Apex Sea Food Limited and Katlia AC Food Limited.

On the first day of the fair on September 4, Bangladesh Ambassador to Germany inaugurated the Bangladesh Pavilion. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan.

At that time, he said, ‘This kind of participation at the international level is very significant to diversify our exports. Bangladesh ranks third in inland open water storage production and fifth in global reservoir production.’

Germany is Bangladesh’s second export destination. We hope that the export of Bangladeshi tiger prawns and other fish to Germany will increase in the coming year,’ he added.

On the second day of the fair, European businessmen including German Deputy Minister Kai Surenberg were present at the seminar organized by Solidarity Network Asia and Bangladesh Embassy in the business lounge of the fair.

The seminar highlighted the potential of Bangladesh’s deep sea fishing sector and urged businessmen from Germany and Europe to invest in this sector.

Saiful Islam, Commercial Counselor of Bangladesh Embassy, ​​said that in the last fiscal year, about 532 million US dollars of frozen fish were exported from Bangladesh to the whole world, where only 60 million US dollars were exported to Germany.

‘We hope that fish exports to Germany will reach 100 million US dollars in the coming year,’ the counselor added.

Bangladesh Frozen Food Exporters Association (BFFEA) director Shyamal Das, who participated in the fair, said that fish traders from different countries of the world participated in this fair, which will play an effective role in increasing the business network.

He also said that in this fair we got the opportunity to communicate with many buyers from Germany and European Union.

Enam Chowdhury, managing director of Bangladeshi exporter Deep Sea Fishers, said, “We are participating in this fair to highlight Bangladeshi fisheries in the German market.

Salim Reza Hasan, country manager of Solidarity Network Asia, said that there has been a major revolution in the fisheries sector of Bangladesh in the last decade. We are working together to promote the fish products of Bangladesh especially Bt shrimp in the international market.
