Dhaka, September 9, 2022 (BSS): Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek has returned home from Bhutan after a four-day state visit at the invitation of the World Health Organization.
He landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a flight this Friday evening.
Health Minister was welcomed by the Director General of the Department of Health Professor Dr. ABM Khurshid Alam, Director General of the Department of Health Education Professor Dr. AKM Amirul Morshed and others.
Earlier, on September 4, he traveled to Bhutan for the five-day international conference of the South East Asian Regional Organization (SEARO), the regional meeting of the World Health Organization.
Attending this five-day international conference, the health minister highlighted the steps taken by Bangladesh to deal with Covid. At the same time, he also mentioned the effective direction and overall advice of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in dealing with Covid.
On September 6, India’s Minister of State for Health Dr. Bharti held a bilateral meeting with Praveen Pawar.
He expressed his gratitude to the Indian government for coming forward to help Bangladesh in various needs during the Corona period.
In the meeting, discussions were held for mutual cooperation on various issues related to the development of the health sector of both the countries. Alternative medicine, joint research and training cooperation, information exchange, vaccine production, drug production, traditional medicine, medical equipment production, lab equipment, joint efforts to eradicate tuberculosis and malaria, memorandum of understanding on medical travel, development of pharmaceuticals sector, digital health services etc. There is an exchange of ideas for mutual cooperation and working together.
It should be noted that the five-day World Health Organization regional conference began in Paro, Bhutan, from September 5.
In the conference, the Health Ministers of Bangladesh and India arrived in Bhutan to participate in discussions on various issues related to future epidemic prevention, review of the Covid situation, universal health management, including strategies to deal with non-communicable diseases including overall health management in cooperation with the World Health Organization.
