Chittagong: Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi came to the scene after receiving the news of the marriage of the seventh class girl in Rangunia. Sensing his presence, the bride and groom fled.

Later, the executive magistrate of the traveling court fined the father of the bride 30 thousand rupees for arranging the child marriage.

The marriage was organized on Thursday (September 9) at Laila Community Center in Buri Shop area of ​​Pomra Union of Rangunia Upazila. The marriage of a 26-year-old youth of Ward No. 1 Noagaon area of ​​Rangunia municipality with a seventh-grade student of Kaukhali village of Betagi union of the upazila was going on in full swing.

At that time, Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Jamshedul Alam appeared at the community center to stop child marriage. The bride and groom ran away from the community center on hearing the arrival of the magistrate. All the food prepared for the wedding ceremony is sent to the local eatery.

Executive Magistrate Jamshedul Alam told BanglaNews that we went there after receiving information about child marriage at a community center in Rangunia. On hearing the news, the bride and groom ran away. Later their marriage was ordered to be annulled.

He said, after waiting for a long time, the bride and groom did not find anyone from the side and they were asked to come to the office of the upazila executive officer. Later, around 4:30 pm, the boy party was fined Tk 15,000 for organizing child marriage by setting up a mobile court in the office of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ataul Gani Osmani.

Jamshedul Alam said that the family members of both sides were made aware of the evils of child marriage. The girl’s father has given a bond of 1 lakh rupees in writing that he will not marry the girl until she turns 18 years old.
