Dhaka: Advisor to the former caretaker government, eminent economist and eminent academician. Akbar Ali Khan’s burial has been completed.

He was buried at 3:20 PM on Friday (September 9) at Mirpur Shaheed Intellectual Cemetery in a place reserved for brave freedom fighters.

At that time former chairman of NBR Badiur Rahman, former CEC Rakib Uddin, Akbar Ali Khan’s brother Kabiruddin Khan and his former colleagues participated in the burial.

Earlier, Akbar Ali Khan breathed his last at Evercare Hospital in the capital on Thursday (September 8) night. He was 78 years old at the time of his death.

It is reported that when Akbar Ali Khan was brought to Evercare Hospital around 10 pm on Thursday, the doctors declared him dead.

Dr. Akbar Ali Khan was born in 1944 in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria. He is the Dhanmondi Govt. Boys spent his entire school life in high school. Later he got admission in Dhaka College and passed ISC in 1961. He then studied in the Department of History of Dhaka University and from there completed his honors in 1964 and Masters in 1965. Took first class in both.

He taught for some time before joining government service. In the season 1967-68, he joined the Civil Service Academy, Lahore. After training in 1970 Habiganj Mahukumar was posted as SDO. He conducted the 1970 elections smoothly in his constituency.

During the Liberation War of Bangladesh, he was the District Administrator or SDO of Habiganj and actively worked with the Mujibnagar government during the war. During the Liberation War, the Pakistani government tried him in absentia and sentenced him to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment.

After the independence of the country, he was associated with government jobs and university teaching. In 2006, he was an advisor to the caretaker government led by President Yazuddin Ahmed. Later, fearing that a fair election would not be completed, he resigned along with three advisers. He served as the Chairman of the Regulatory Reforms Commission.

The number of books written by Akbar Ali Khan is 18. In his book ‘History of Bangladesh’ published by the Asiatic Society, he researched the historical and social rise and change of Bangladesh and discussed the development of Islam in the country. His economics book ‘Economics of Altruism’ is widely discussed. In it, he explained the complex subject of economics in clear and concise language.
