The Chittagong district branch of Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has announced to close all gold shops from September 11 in protest against the killing of a gold trader in Patia, Chittagong.
This ultimatum was given at a press conference organized yesterday afternoon on Thursday afternoon to protest against the brutal killing of Babu Biman Dhar, a member of Chittagong district branch of Bangladesh Jewelery Association (BAJUS).
Bangladesh Jewelers Association Chittagong district president Mrinal Kanti Dhar said at the press conference that gold traders play a role in the country’s economy. They pay all kinds of taxes to the government on time. Biman Dhar, the gold merchant of Potiya, was an honest businessman. We do not know why he was killed. All the gold shops in Chittagong will be closed on September 11 in protest against the killing of a gold trader by flying and cutting his throat.
At this time, he said to the journalists, you bring up all kinds of unjust crimes through your writing power. You have a lot of role to stop many misdeeds. So you should also investigate why gold merchant Biman Dhar was killed.
It is reported that Biman Dhar is the owner of New Saudia Gold Fashion, Rahattarpul, KB Aman Ali Road, Baklia. Last Tuesday (September 6) on his way home after closing the shop, he was brutally murdered by terrorists at around 11:00 PM in Goirla of Patiyar Upazila. The deceased Biman Dhar is the son of Dulal Dhar of Banik Para of Dhalghat Union of Patia Upazila. Biman Dhar’s brother Dhiman Dhar filed a murder case at Patia police station last Wednesday.
Rashedul Islam, OC (Investigation) of Patia police station, said that the dead bodies were recovered and sent to the morgue that night. After the postmortem, his body was handed over to his relatives on Wednesday afternoon. The miscreants did not take any money, mobile or jewelery from him. It is believed to be a premeditated murder for some other reason.
The OC also said that Biman Dhar’s brother Dhiman Dhar has filed a case as a plaintiff in the murder case. We have continued the operation to arrest the accused in this incident.
