Momen said this at a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit to India. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen were also present at the press conference.

The foreign minister said that the incident of shelling on the border of Myanmar was not motivated by any motive. That is why we have summoned their messenger today (Sunday).

Momen also mentioned that this incident on the border will not hinder the repatriation of Rohingya.

Yesterday morning (August 3), two shells of Myanmar security forces came within 120 meters of Bangladesh territory near the Zero Line at Naikshyongchari border in Bandarban. Although these two shells exploded in the uninhabited hills, there was no casualty. Earlier on August 28, two mortar shells landed in the populated area of ​​Ghumdhumpara, north of Naikshyongchari. However, there were no casualties as the two shells did not explode.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned U Aung Kyaw Mo, Myanmar’s ambassador to Dhaka, today (Sunday) in connection with this incident. Dhaka protested by calling the ambassador. Dhaka has handed over a diplomatic formal letter in this regard.
