3 more BNP leaders arrested in Sirajganj clash

Police have arrested three people in the case of BNP-Police clash in Sirajganj. Inspector (Operation) of Sirajganj police station Suman Kumar Das confirmed this information on Sunday (September 4) afternoon.

The arrested are Abdul Awal, general secretary of Sadar Upazila Syedabad Union Juba Dal, Shafiqul Islam Shafi, BNP leader of Dattabari Mahalla of Sirajganj town area and Enamul Haque Parvez, younger brother of district BNP vice president Nazmul Hasan Rana.

Earlier on Thursday, police clashed with BNP leaders and activists in Sirajganj over the foundation anniversary rally of BNP. At least 10 BNP leaders and activists including 7 policemen were injured. In this incident, district BNP general secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu was the main accused and the police filed a case against 110 activists.

District BNP organizing secretary Mirza Mostafa Zaman said that the police have so far arrested five people in the case of police clashes with BNP leaders and activists. He demanded their release.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sirajganj Police Station Suman Kumar Das said that 3 more BNP activists were arrested.
