ACC appoints investigating officer

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started an investigation into allegations of corruption against Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ramna Police Station OC Monirul Islam. The anti-corruption agency has appointed officials to investigate allegations of abuse of power and acquisition of illegal wealth through irregularities and corruption.

OC Monirul Islam has been accused of possessing huge wealth beyond the known income and taking possession of the house of a valiant freedom fighter. A letter signed by ACC Director Uttam Kumar Mandal on August 17 stated the decision to initiate an inquiry against OC Monirul.

According to ACC sources, ACC Assistant Director Neyamul Hasan Ghazi has been appointed as the investigating officer.

Meanwhile, the High Court has directed the ACC to complete the investigation of irregularities and corruption allegations against OC Monirul within three months. Justice Md. The High Court bench consisting of Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat gave this order.

Incidentally, Supreme Court lawyer Syed Syedul Haque Suman wrote to the ACC seeking an inquiry in view of the news published in a national daily about the OC’s eight-storey house and a large amount of assets. In a letter sent to ACC Chairman Moinuddin Abdullah, lawyer Suman requested to take legal action by investigating the assets of OC Monirul Islam.
