Bangladesh strongly protested by calling the ambassador of Myanmar

Dhaka has strongly protested by calling the country’s ambassador in Dhaka, U Aung Kyaw Mo, after two shells of Myanmar’s security forces landed inside the Bangladesh territory near the zero line at the Naikshyongchari border in Bandarban.

On Sunday (September 4), the ambassador was summoned to the Rashtriya Guest House Padma and this protest was given. At around 11 o’clock, Ambassador Wu Aung Kyaw appeared at the State Guest House Padma at the invitation of Dhaka. There, the director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Myanmar Microbiology Division, Md. Mainul Kabir asked the ambassador for an explanation about the shelling of Bangladesh territory from the country. In order not to repeat this kind of incident again, a protest was given in strong language.

According to diplomatic sources, Bangladesh’s ambassador assigned to Naypyidaw will explain Bangladesh’s position on the matter with the country’s authorities in the recent shelling of Myanmar with mortar shells.

On Saturday (September 3), Myanmar Army warplanes fired two rounds at the Bangladesh border near the Zero Line at the Naikshyongchari border in Bandarban at 9:30 am.

According to the police and locals, two warplanes and two fighting helicopters of the Myanmar Army patrolled near Tumbru border of Ghumdhum Union of Naikxyongchari Upazila around 9:30 am on Saturday. Around 8-10 rounds were fired from fighter jets and 30-35 from helicopters. At that time, two shells fired from the warplanes landed within 120 meters of the border pillar 40 of Bangladesh.

Earlier, mortar shells arrived in Bangladesh from Myanmar on Sunday and Thursday last week. Bangladesh strongly protested and strongly condemned the incident by calling the Myanmar ambassador U Aung Kyaw Moe through a note verbale.

On Thursday (September 1), State Minister of Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam informed that Bangladesh is ready considering the internal situation of Myanmar. The government has instructed the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to be on maximum alert so that not a single citizen of the country can enter Bangladesh.
