The experimental rocket of the US space agency (NASA) to send an expedition to the moon again could not take off in the second phase due to mechanical problems.

The Artemis-1 program continued its six-hour long launch on Saturday. It is said in the media that the liquid hydrogen used as rocket fuel has come out through the hole (leak) and many of the launches have been interrupted.

It is said in the news, besides cooling the rocket’s engine, the engineers were trying to close the hole where the fuel came out.

However, no official announcement of flight cancellation or suspension was made until 8 pm Bangladesh time on Saturday.

A new launch will be attempted on Monday or Tuesday. If it still fails, the rocket will be sent back to the assembly center for further testing. It is feared that the program will be quite delayed.

According to various international media reports, engineers were preparing for the launch of the largest rocket called the Space Launch System (SLS) and the booster rockets connected to it from Saturday morning local time at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA. Since then new errors are visible. To deal with this complication, scientists were trying to fix the hole by cutting off the supply of rocket propellant.

After a little more than five decades of human footprints on the moon, NASA has taken the initiative to conduct an expedition there again. The mission has been named Artemis-1. Its first test run on Monday failed due to a technical glitch.

NASA intends to monitor the performance of the Orion spacecraft and SLS attached to the rocket through this experimental mission. If this test is successful, NASA will send man to the moon again by 2025.

NASA last sent astronauts to the moon 50 years ago with the Apollo 17 mission.

According to NASA, after a mechanical failure occurred last Monday, attempts were made to bring the engine of the 100-meter-long rocket to the correct temperature. However, the launch was suspended as the mechanical problems could not be resolved. Source: BBC
