Children and adolescents with special needs are not a burden to the society, they are also a valuable part of the society. Giving them affection and love can turn into wealth. A two-day long sports festival was organized for the first time outside Dhaka with these children and teenagers with special needs of the society. ‘Walton Special Children and Adolescent District Based Summer Sports Festival-2022’ started from Friday at Madaripur Handicapped School ground.
The festival ended with the closing and awarding ceremony on Saturday.
On the final day, more than four hundred special children and adolescents competed in various disciplines of the Para Olympics. 66 first, second and third places were awarded in 22 events. Apart from this, 334 people were given consolation prizes.
Former shipping minister Shajahan Khan attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest and distributed the awards. Madaripur Deputy Commissioner was present as a special guest at this time. Rahima Khatun, Sadar Upazila Chairman Advocate Obaidur Rahman Khan, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Md. FM Iqbal Anwar (Don), Senior Executive Director (Games & Sports, Marketing) at Mainuddin & Walton Group.
