Students of Polytechnic Institute protested the terrorist attack on a student of Polytechnic Institute in Moulvibazar by blocking the road for 2 hours on Saturday afternoon.

They protested in front of the polytechnic institute on Moulvibazar-Shamsernagar-Chatlapur check post road.

Earlier on Friday night, Saurabh Dev (18), a first semester student of Food Technology Department of Polytechnic Institute, was seriously injured by sharp weapons in Shimultala Bazar of Chandnighat Union of Sadar Upazila. He is currently undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital.

According to eyewitnesses and locals, several hundred students of Polytechnic Institute took a stand on Moulvibazar-Shamserernagar-Chatlapur check post road from 11 am on Saturday. They stopped all traffic on the road and started protesting. Later Moulvibazar Model Police Station went to the spot and brought the situation under control by assuring the arrest of the terrorists and exemplary punishment.

Moulvibazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Yasinul Haque told Dhaka Times that they arrested a person named Saju (30) after hearing about the attack on Friday night. But the students did not know about this arrest and started protesting. When we went to the spot and raised the issue, they called off the blockade.

Moulvibazar Polytechnic Institute Hall Superintendent Ashraful Islam confirmed the truth of the incident and told Dhaka Times that a team of Moulvibazar Model Police Station has come to Polytechnic Institute to investigate the attack.
