BRAC University student Sanjana Musaddika’s (21) father Shaheen Alam has been sent to jail after a day’s remand in the case of inciting suicide by jumping from the roof of a 10-storey building in Dakshinkhane of the capital.
On Saturday (September 3), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ahmed Humayun Kabir’s court ordered him to be sent to jail.
Earlier on Thursday (September 1), Shaheen Alam was produced in court and the police wanted a seven-day remand. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan (DMP) Magistrate Shuvra Chakraborty granted his one-day remand.
After the remand, when he was brought to court today, the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Mocha, requested to keep him in jail until the investigation of the case is over. Rezia Khatun. On the other hand, his lawyer applied for bail. After the hearing, the court denied bail and ordered to send Shaheen Alam to jail.
Earlier, RAB arrested him from Gafargaon in Mymensingh on Wednesday (August 31).
Last Saturday (August 27) Sanjana Mosaddek jumped from the roof of a 10-story building in Dakshinkhan Mollartek area. Police recovered his body around 7 pm. In this incident, Sanjana’s mother became a plaintiff and filed a case against the victim’s father. The student’s father, Shaheen Alam, was accused.
After Sanjana’s suicide, the accused went into hiding. Later accused Shaheen Alam was arrested from Gafargaon area of Mymensingh.
It is to be noted that the third semester student of English Department of BRAC University wrote a suicide note against his father Shaheen Islam before committing suicide.
In the suicide note, he writes, my father is responsible for my death. Can live with animals in a house. But not with non-humans. A tyrannical rapist who doesn’t even spare his maid. I am the beginning of his tragic fate.
