A case has been filed against 18 people including transport contractor Moazzem Hossain as seven trucks coming from Patenga in Chittagong to Bogra were found to be adulterated.
Chittagong TSP Complex Manager (Administration) Mazharul Islam filed the case at Bogra Sadar police station on Friday afternoon.
16 out of 18 people were arrested by RAB and handed over to the police station. The other two are absconding.
The matter was confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bogra Sadar Police Station Selim Reza.
The defendants in the case are – Moazzem Hossain of M/s MHR Corporation, the contractor company for transporting TSP fertilizer in Bogra, MHR Corporation representative Abu Taher, truck driver and helper respectively Jasim Uddin, Babu Mia, Shakeel Ahmed, Md. Hanif, Asadul, Jahangir Alam, Sohail Rana, Shah Alam, Abdul Awal, Shakeel, Tarek, Abul Bashar, Noor Hossain, Hasan, Saidul Islam, Badal Mia.
All of them also worked as employees of MHR Enterprises.
The OC said, RAB handed over the arrested 16 people to us and they were sent to court this afternoon. Besides, the operation to arrest the main accused in the case and other fugitives is continuing.
Before this, on Monday (August 29), seven trucks from Chittagong TSP complex and 10 trucks on Tuesday, totaling 17 trucks of TSP fertilizers came to Bafa warehouse. Then samples were taken from seven trucks suspected of being adulterated and sent to the Rajshahi Soil Resources Development Institute, on Thursday they were proved to be adulterated. Then RAB arrested 13 truck drivers and helpers from Bafa warehouse that evening and took them to RAB-12 camp.
The next day, RAB Ber Company Commander Touhidul Mobin Khan said in a press briefing organized in his own office, that genuine TSP fertilizer was unloaded from the trucks leaving from Chittagong for buffer warehouse in Bogra and adulterated fertilizer was loaded in Hemayetpur of Savar.
