Bangladesh gave a tough challenge of 184 runs to Sri Lanka in a life-and-death battle. The Lankans also got off to a great start in chasing this big target. However, Ibadat Hossain broke the opening pair of the Lankans and gave Bangladesh a double success. Ibadat took control of the match by picking up two wickets of the Lankans for 48 runs. Ibadat also dealt a third blow to the Lankan camp. Taskin Ahmed picked up the fourth wicket.

Bangladesh collected 183 runs for 7 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs in their last match in the group stage of the Asia Cup today. Afif Hossain scored maximum 39 runs for the team. Mehdi Hasan Miraj scored 38 runs.

Afghanistan confirmed the last four first from ‘B’ group with two consecutive wins. The remaining two teams in this group are Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The winner of the match between these two teams will go to the last four with the Afghans.

Bangladesh lost the toss and went into bat by changing the opening at the Dubai International Stadium. Sabbir Rahman and Mehdi Hasan Miraj were given a chance after excluding Naeem-Enamul from the previous match. However, after 3 years, Sabbi could not make use of the opportunity to return to the national team.

Sabbir tried to pull Fernand’s last ball in the third over of the innings. The ball touches the edge of the bat and goes to the wicketkeeper. Sabbir returns for 5 runs.

Although Sabbi failed to capitalize on the opportunity, Miraj did well to get the chance in the opening. He has given great batting in the power play. Bangladesh scored 55 runs in the power play riding on his bat.

However, Hasaranga stopped Mirage’s storm in the seventh over. Miraj was bowled while slogging the ball to the Lankan star. He scored 38 runs off 26 balls. This is his career highest innings in T20.

Mushfiqur (4) could not settle after coming to the wicket. He got out quickly while playing a bad shot. However, Bangladesh did not lose its rhythm. Shakib formed another pair with Afif Hossain. Bangladesh got 24 runs in that pair. Shakib’s departure broke this pair.

In the 11th over, Shakib was cut off off spin by Mahis Thikshanar. The captain returned with 24 runs off 22 balls. When Shakib returned, Bangladesh’s run rate started to decrease. Mahmudullah came to the wicket and batted slowly. However, Afif played the bat with his hands. He gave an innings of 39 runs off just 22 balls. Mahmudullah got out after scoring 27 runs.

After breaking this pair of 57 runs, Bangladesh got a strong capital in the end with the bats of Mosaddek Hossain Saikat and Taskin. In the end Saikat played an innings of 24 runs. Taskin Ahmed scored 11 runs.
