Bangladesh set Sri Lanka a big target of 184 runs

Bachamara’s match. The team that loses today will be eliminated from the Asia Cup. In such an important match, Bangladesh’s batsmen shined.

The Tigers set a record for their highest collection on UAE soil. Bangladesh scored 183 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In other words, to win, Sri Lanka has to score 184 runs.

The opening is not clicking. Bangladesh has therefore changed two openers together in the Bachamara match today. Naeem Sheikh and Enamul Bijay were replaced by Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Sabbir Rahman.

How is the opening pair? Batting after losing the toss at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the start was not too bad. However, the pair of Sabbir-Miraj broke in 19 runs.

Sabbir Rahman returned to the team after a long time. He played the opening game for the first time in his career. But could not facilitate. Sabbir was caught by the wicketkeeper while pulling Asitha Fernando for 5 runs off 6 balls.

Mirage has been successful by opening in ODIs before. But today is the first in T20. Team management’s bet on offspinning this all-rounder has worked again this time.

In the power play, Bangladesh was complaining about the flying start, Mirage removed that regret when he came to open. Bangladesh scored 55 runs for 1 wicket in 6 overs of power play against Sri Lanka today on the stormy batting of this all-rounder.

However, in the next over of the power play, Hasaranga returned this opener to Markut. Mirage was bowled after two balls after the Lankan survived an LBW appeal on this leg-ball. 38 runs came from Mirage’s bat with 2 four-sixes off 26 balls.

The T20 format does not suit Mushfiqur Rahim at all. Although the team has high hopes in Tests and ODIs, its record in this format is not so good.

He scored 1 run against Afghanistan in the previous match. Mushfiq failed once again. This time he got out for 4 off 5 balls.

Chamika Karunaratne’s back of the length delivery was defended on the back foot by the experienced batsman and caught by the wicketkeeper. With this, in the last six innings in T20, Mushfiqur got out under ten five times.

Shakib Al Hasan was playing with a lot of confidence. The team was progressing well. Suddenly Shakib left the stumps to hit, Thiksana’s ball missed the line and was bowled.

Mushfiqur returned two overs ago. Shakib, who scored 24 runs in 3 boundaries off 22 balls, was also under a bit of pressure after losing in a short period of time.

4 wickets fell for 87 runs. Afif Hossain Dhrub and Mahmudullah Riyad made a great pair from there. Bangladesh reached a hundred in the 13th over. Afif took the team past 100 by hitting a great six off Hasaranga at deep square leg.

Mahmudullah also played great. Their pair scored 57 runs off 37 balls. Afif finally got out in the 17th over of the innings. The all-rounder was caught at cow corner while picking up the left-arm pacer Madhushanka. Afif’s stormy innings of 39 runs off 22 balls had 4 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Bangladesh set Sri Lanka a big target of 184 runs

Mahmudullah lost his patience as if he had lost his partner. The experienced batsman who made 27 off 22 balls swept Hasaranga and caught him at deep midwicket in the over after Afif was out.

Then Sheikh Mehdi Hasan went back to Sajghar by 1 run. But in the end, Bangladesh made a big collection of 183 runs with the bat of Mosaddek Hossain and Taskin Ahmed. Mosaddek was 24 off 9 balls with 4 boundaries and Taskin remained unbeaten on 11 runs off 6 balls with 1 six.

Among the Lankan bowlers, Wanindu Hasaranga and Chamika Karunaratne took two wickets each.
