Various wholesale traders in Dhaka hire trucks to send goods across the country. And the circle uses that opportunity. They used fake number plates on the trucks and embezzled the goods without going to the destination. Meanwhile, even if the traders left the number of the truck, it could not be traced as it was fake.
The circle keeps in touch with people in the transport sector. Later, he cheated the businessmen by exploiting that advantage. Later they sold the stolen goods to unscrupulous traders at low prices. Last Monday, DB Ramna Division arrested three members of this gang by raiding Kotyali Police Station of Rangpur and Kishoreganj Police Station of Nilphamari.
DMP Additional Commissioner of Police (Detective) Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid gave this information in a press conference at DMP Media Center on Thursday afternoon.
The arrested accused are Mariful Islam, Asif Iqbal Mamun and Farhad Hossain Samrat. At that time, 12 tons of 300 kg of anglebar, squarebar, flatbar and boxpot were recovered from the godown of Farhad Hossain. The estimated value of which is 13 lakh taka.
Harun said, Ataur Rahman is a businessman. He hired a truck from Jahangir Alam, owner of Munsikhola Subarna Transport Agency, Kadamtali police station.
This detective police officer said that on August 22, 179 bundles of angle bar, square bar, flat bar and box patty with a total weight of 14 tons were sent to Siam, the owner of SM Trades Rangpur, from his own shop. But the truck driver left for Nilphamari with the goods. Later, with the help of the driver of the truck, the arrested accused embezzled the goods. Ataur Rahman filed a case at the capital’s Kadmatoli police station.
Haroon Or Rashid said the case was investigated under the leadership of Javed Iqbal, leader of DB’s car theft and prevention team. During the investigation, the location of the arrested persons was identified on the basis of intelligence information. After conducting a special operation, Mariful and Asif were arrested in front of the Rangpur district bus stand mosque of South Ganeshpur Rangpur district Kotyali police station. Later, based on the information given by them, Farhad, owner of M/s Hussey Trades, Medical Cross, Kishoreganj Police Station, Nilphamari District, was arrested. Meanwhile, the goods were recovered from his custody.
