Dhaka: The court granted a one-day remand to her father Shaheen Alam in the case of private university student Sanjana’s (21) suicide by jumping from the roof of a 10-storey building in Dakshinkhane of the capital.

On Thursday (September 1), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shubhra Chakraborty ordered the remand.

Shaheen Alam was arrested from Gafargaon area of ​​Mymensingh last Wednesday (August 31) at noon. On Thursday, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Dakshinkhan Thana Rezia Khatun applied for a seven-day remand after presenting him in court.

On the other hand, the lawyer of the accused applied for bail after canceling the remand. After the hearing, the judge granted his one-day remand.

On August 27, Sanjana jumped from the roof of a 10-story building in Dakshinkhan Mollartek area. Police recovered his body around 7 pm.

Sanjana’s mother Umme Salma (Moni) filed a case as plaintiff in this incident. The student’s father, Shaheen Alam, has been made an accused. Before committing suicide, the student referred to her father as an ‘animal and a rapist’.
