The court has ordered two people to be hanged in the case of the murder of an auto-rickshaw driver in Gangachra, Rangpur.

Judge Tariq Hossain of Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-2 of Rangpur gave this order on Wednesday afternoon.

The public prosecutor (PP) of the case, lawyer Naynur Rahman Tofi, confirmed the matter.

He said that the court has ordered two people to be hanged in the case of killing the autorickshaw driver Abul Kashem, son of Abdul Haque of Nekirhat village of Taraganj upazila of Rangpur. Mokhlesena Begum, the victim’s mother filed a case of murder in the Gangachra police station. While investigating the case, the police arrested Safiqul Islam and Saiful Islam, two sons of Mofizul Islam of Gokulpur Dhanipara village of Rangpur Sadar Upazila.

In the initial interrogation by the police, the two accused confessed to the charge of killing the autorickshaw driver and robbing the autorickshaw. Later they both gave a confessional statement under section 164 in the court. The police filed a charge sheet against the accused in the court. After the testimony and interrogation of the witnesses, the court found two brothers Safiqul Islam and Saiful Islam guilty and ordered them to be hanged.

Alauddin Alamgir, the lawyer for the accused, said that he is not satisfied with this verdict. He also said that he will appeal to the high court.
