Sukumar Sarkar, Dhaka: This year, Bangladesh is burning with unlimited ambition. People’s lives have become exhausted in the sweltering heat. A fire broke out from the hydraulic brake of the Silk City train bound for Rajshahi in Mirzapur of Tangail district in intense heat. Besides, a railway line bent near Ishwardi Bypass railway station in Pabna.

This year, the highest temperature in Bangladesh has risen in Chuadanga, adjacent to Ranaghat subdivision in the western district. The mercury touched 42.7 degrees Celsius. A fire broke out from the hydraulic brake of the Rajshahi-bound Silk City train while crossing the Mahera station last Friday afternoon. At that time panic spread among the passengers of the train. At least 10 people were injured in the rush to get off the train in fear. The fire was brought under control in about an hour. Mahera Railway Station Master Sohail Khan said, the fire broke out from the hydraulic brake due to heat while stopping the Silkcity Express train. No major accident happened as the passengers found out immediately. Some of the injured who jumped down from the train were discharged after first aid.

Meanwhile, Pabna’s Ishwardi recorded the highest temperature of 42.4 degrees Celsius on Friday. Due to extreme heat, a railway track bends near Ishwardi Bypass railway station. Kapotaksh Express, an intercity train bound for Rajshahi from Khulna, narrowly escaped a major accident in this incident. Railway office people poured water on the track for two hours to bring down the temperature. After that the bent leaf returns to its normal state.

Shubo Hossain, a worker working at Ishwardi bypass station of the railway, said that after the Kapotaksh train left Ishwardi, the line on which the train was going near the station seemed crooked from a distance. That’s when station master Taulad Hossain saw the matter and informed the Pakshi divisional railway officials. Immediately, the transport officer, assistant engineers and other managers quickly went to the spot and brought the train back and made arrangements to pass the throw through another line. There was hardly any major accident in it.
