The 8-day long Moscow International Film Festival came down on Friday. Bangladeshi film ‘Nirban’ has won the ‘Special Jury Award’ at one of the most influential film festivals in the world. The film is produced by Asif Islam.
Asif was present in Moscow on the invitation of the festival authorities from the opening day. He participated in all the events starting from the inaugural event. The experience of two shows of ‘Nirvana’ directed by him is also great.

The filmmaker told Channel I Online that he noticed a different interest among Moscow audiences and critics with the films in the competition section of the festival. Two of my shows were house full. After watching the film, I got so much praise from the general audience of the Boddha class, it is not possible to explain that feeling.
Asif said, I was present at the closing ceremony of the festival from Friday afternoon. There was a kind of dust. In fact, my film has placed in the competition category at festivals like Moscow, which was a big prize for me in the beginning! But after coming to the festival in person, why did the desire to touch the prize continue to be created! Finally it happened.
Asif also commented that the moment of announcing the award felt like a dream to him. He said, “What else can I say?” It feels like a dream. Before announcing the Special Jury Award, when saying, ‘Now we have a special film for Outstanding Imagery.’ After hearing this I thought, Yes, Nirvana is going to get the award! I was really overwhelmed after the award announcement.
Asif said, I have seen all the films in competition in this year’s festival. All big budget films. But after saying Outstanding Imagery nothing else came to mind except ‘Nirvana’. Nirvana has been repeatedly commented on the stage as an outstanding imagery film. This is a great find for me.
The organizers arranged a special dinner with the winners after the festival on Friday night. Asif also participated in it. In the meantime, he announced the award on Facebook.
The producer told Channel I Online that after dinner, he will have to catch the plane back to Bangladesh. Saturday night to return home. Asif expressed his excitement and said, ‘Bangladesh, I am returning with the award.’
