The husband has no right to the jewelry or other valuable property acquired by the wife during the marriage. The Supreme Court of India said so in a case. At the same time, the apex court said that even if the money is taken in trouble, it is within the husband’s moral duty to return it to the wife. The Supreme Court of the country also ordered to pay 25 lakhs to the wife in the related case.

The woman claimed that her father gifted her a huge gold coin during the marriage. He also gave two lakh rupees. But on the first night of marriage, her husband snatched the jewelry and money. He gave it to his mother. Allegedly, they spent the combined money of that jewelry and money. He said that their family was already in huge debt. That money was spent to repay that loan.

After that, the housewife approached the court. In 2011, the family court said that the manner in which the woman’s husband and mother-in-law grabbed the gold jewelry and money was wrong. They have to return that money to the complainant. But the case went to the Kerala High Court. The high court said that the misappropriation of jewelry and money of the woman is not proved. After this, the housewife went to the Supreme Court. His hearing was on this day.

Finally, the Supreme Court said that the property of the wife is not the joint property of the husband and wife. The husband alone cannot be the owner of that property. The gold and money gifted at the time of marriage is the property of the wife. After this, the judges ordered the husband of the housewife to pay Tk 25 lakh to the wife.
