Rajshahi: The temperature is flowing like an oasis in Rajshahi of Padmapar. The wind is blowing.

The highest temperature recorded in Rajshahi was 42.4 degree Celsius on Friday (April 26) at 3 pm. Earlier, on April 17 last year, the highest temperature in Rajshahi was recorded at 42.6 degrees Celsius. Then the highest temperature recorded on April 26 this year was 42.4 degrees Celsius. Besides, in April 2005, the maximum temperature rose to 42.6 degrees Celsius.

So the normal way of life of Rajshahi has come to a standstill. Everything seems to succumb to the adverse nature. Public life has stopped. The people of Rajshahi are passing through the hot season of remembrance throughout April. Mild to moderate, moderate to extreme heat waves are sweeping over the drought-prone Rajshahi region. In the last three days, the maximum temperature of Rajshahi reached 42.4 degrees Celsius.

Rajshahi Meteorological Observatory said – The highest temperature of this season was recorded at 41.8 degrees Celsius on Thursday (April 25) at 3 pm. This was the highest temperature of this season till yesterday. Earlier on Saturday (April 20) at 3 pm, the highest temperature in Rajshahi was recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius. The next day, Sunday (April 21), the same temperature was recorded. Then on April 22, 40 degrees Celsius was recorded. The maximum temperature recorded in Rajshahi on April 23 was 40.5 degrees Celsius. Yesterday, April 24, was 41.3 degrees Celsius. In other words, this desert city of Padmapar is setting a new temperature record. Continuous intense heat wave has taken permanent form here.

As a result of climate change, the country’s highest temperature was recorded in Rajshahi on May 18, 1972 after independence. The maximum temperature recorded in Rajshahi that day was 45.1 degrees Celsius, which is 8.3 degrees Celsius higher than the normal temperature of the country. And this temperature record has not been broken in Bangladesh so far.

However, it is also feared that the ongoing abnormal temperature in the country may surpass the previous record.

Observer of Rajshahi Meteorological Observatory. Gaosuzzaman said, there is no possibility of abating this intense heatwave for now without heavy rainfall. And there is no chance of rain in Rajshahi in two days. He also commented that there is no other option but to wait for rain.

Meanwhile, people are getting sick due to continuous heat wave. Mango and lychee pods are falling in the dry heat. The moaning for the rain does not stop. To get rid of this painful heat, ‘Salatul Istiskaar’ is performed even today. A Salatul Istiskar was organized at Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Divisional Stadium ground in Rajshahi’s Terkhadia at 8:30 am. At the end of the prayer, one seeks refuge from all sins by repenting to Allah. Along with that, a special prayer is made to Allah for rain. To get rid of the lack of rain and heat, prayers will be held for the third consecutive day on Saturday (April 27) at 10 am at Hazrat Shah Makhdoom (RA) Central Eidgah in Rajshahi.
