As a result, labor standards will improve wherever EU companies source their products. Although labor rights have improved in some areas since the Rana Plaza collapse, there are still barriers to trade union registration and practice.

Bangladesh Center for Workers Solidarity Executive Director Kalpana Akhter Prothom-aloK said, ‘A lot depends on how the provision will be implemented. But we may need to make some new laws. In some cases the cost will also increase. We need to talk to the owners so that the buying organization shares those costs. If necessary, we will put the interests of the workers in the center and enter the field with the owners.
