Five MoUs have been signed between Bangladesh and Thailand. Among these are said to be one agreement, three memorandums of understanding and one letter of intent.

Those concerned signed these documents in the presence of Prime Minister Sretha Thavisin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, on Friday (April 26).

Earlier, when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached the office, the guard of honor was given by the armed forces of the country. After that, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a bilateral meeting with Thai Prime Minister Sretha Thavisin. During this time fruitful discussions were held on various issues.

After the meeting, Sheikh Hasina said that Thailand is a potential partner for Bangladesh. Efforts are being made to have direct seaport-based communication with the country. Thailand has been offered to invest in a special economic zone and hi-tech park in Bangladesh. The Prime Minister also said that the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will be signed with the country this year.

Sheikh Hasina also said that she has sought the cooperation of Thailand for the repatriation of Rohingyas. Apart from this, he urged the country to invest in the health sector of Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Thailand on April 24 on a six-day official visit at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Sretha Thavisin.
