DMP News: A road development coordination meeting was held in the capital. This coordination meeting was held at 12 o’clock on Thursday (April 25) in the conference room of the Traffic Motijheel Division in the presence of representatives of Dhaka South City Corporation along with representatives of related organizations such as Wasa, DPDC, Metrorail, concerned engineers, where there is ongoing development work (10 places) of Motijheel Division.

Traffic Motijheel Division Deputy Police Commissioner Mohammad Mainul Hasan PPM (Additional DIG) presided over the meeting and Mahfuzur Raman, Deputy Project Manager, MRT 6; Mohammad Faiz Karim, Executive Engineer, DPDC; Md. Kamrul Hasan Chowdhury, Executive Engineer, DPDC; Md. Tariqul Islam, Executive Engineer, DPDC; Parvez Rana, Assistant Engineer, DSCC and other engineers concerned and concerned Assistant Commissioner of Police, Inspector of Police (City and Traffic) along with Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Motijheel) were present.

In the meeting first, the current status of the development work at all the locations (total 10 locations) was presented in a power point presentation. The existing condition of those roads, speed nature, traffic disruptions etc. are analyzed on a case-by-case basis. Later the following decision was taken.

01. Fast running work should be completed within the stipulated time.
02. Road signs, markings should be visible and written in large size during the work so that the people of the city have a proper idea about it.
03. Sign boards should be installed stating the brief purpose of the excavation work, expressing regret for the temporary inconvenience to the public, the total length of the excavation work and the date of completion of the work.
04. Fencing shall be placed around the excavation site by prescribed design tapes.
05. Adequate lamps and signal lights should be provided during night excavation. Necessary arrangements should be made for red lights at night and yellow lights during the day.
06. Water should be sprinkled on the roads regularly and as per requirement so that the dust does not disturb the movement of the public.
07. Excavated soil, debris etc. should be removed within 24 hours.
08. Adequate volunteers should be recruited at each location. AC (traffic control) will coordinate this.
09. Barricades of ongoing work should be neatly provided so as to reflect at night. Otherwise various accidents are likely to occur.
10. At the end of the work, the work of soling and herringbond should be carried out quickly with proper compaction with sand and water. Later, the city corporation will carpet it.

In the meeting, everyone agreed on the decisions and applauded the coordination meeting with the responsible senior officers of various institutions. Traffic Motijheel Department committed to providing relief to respected city dwellers. Source: Daily Ittefaq
