The court sentenced three people including the truck driver to life imprisonment for transporting heroin in Sirajganj. Each of the same company was sentenced to a fine of Tk 20,000 and in default of payment, one more year of imprisonment.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Second Court Judge Abul Bashar Miya gave the order on Thursday (April 25) afternoon.
The convicts are Shariful Islam (30) of Banshtalipara village of Rajshahi Godagari police station, Billal Hossain (26) and Hasan Ali (20) of Alinagar area of Chapainawabganj Sadar.
Additional PP Zebunnecha of the court said that on the morning of December 6, 2020, RAB came to know that some drug dealers in Solanga Thana area were going to Dhaka in a truck from Rajshahi with heroin. Based on such secret information, RAB set up a check post in front of Bismillah Hotel on the Hatikumrul-Banpara highway and searched the vehicles.
At that time, a truck was searched and 300 grams of heroin were found along with the driver and assistant of the truck. Later, Salim Parvez of RAB-12 filed a case as plaintiff in this incident. He said that the court gave this order today after the evidence of this case.
