Remembrance of Rahib Reza at East West University’s CSE Fest

Former organizing secretary of e-sports Rahib Reza was remembered by his classmates and students at the CSE fest of East-West University in Dhaka.

The final phase of the three-day festival organized by the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department of the private university began last Tuesday. E-sports enthralled and inspired the festival’s participants on Wednesday and Thursday, a press release said on Thursday.

Esports fans at the festival noted that Rehab, a young gamer and tech activist known as ‘The Animal’, felt the absence.

Rahib Reza, former organizing secretary of Bangladesh Youth Development and Electronic Sports Association (e-Sports) and working in the IT department of a private company, died on February 15 in a private hospital. He died during the endoscopy.

A minute’s silence was observed by the e-sports community in memory of Rahib Reza at the festival, East West University and Family said in a press release on Thursday. At this time, the organization also demanded an independent investigation for ‘justice’ in the incident of his death.

The CSE community urges the government to take appropriate action to prevent such ‘negligence and disaster’ in future treatment, the release said.

In the announcement, CSE Fest also invited the e-sports community to join them on a journey of discovery, innovation and transformation with exciting events including programming and gaming competitions and IT Olympiads.
