The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against 9 people including the former managing director of Pragati Industries Limited, Md. Touhiduzzaman. Various charges including abuse of power, corruption, fraud have been brought against them.
The case was filed by ACC Deputy Assistant Director Sabuj Hossain at Chittagong Integrated District Office-1 on Thursday.
Citing the statement, the Deputy Director of the Integrated District Office of the ACC, Chittagong 1, Md. Najmuchayadat, said that the accused supplied and received goods worth Tk 55 lakh 83 thousand 830 from Malaysia, Thailand, excluding Japan, by colluding with each other through corruption, irregularities, fraud and abuse of power. Defamed and damaged the reputation of Pragati Industries Limited.
At the same time, they committed a crime punishable under the Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act by embezzling that money by showing false and fake receipts and creating bill-vouchers with quality certification without accepting products worth Tk 29 lakh 67 thousand 720 from the supplier.
Others who have been accused in the case are Trading Talent Proprietor Md. Rahat Hasan, Pragati Industries Limited’s former Head of Production Kaikobad Al-Mamun, Former Head of Marketing Md Saidur Rahman Jamali, Head of Accounts Md Reza Karim, Purchasing Department Chief Md. Chiddikur Rahman Dewan, former Deputy General Manager (Administration) Md. Humayun Kabir, Engineer (Mechanical) Biswajit Chowdhury and former Engineer (Mechanical) Md. Hayat Mahmud.
